Seaside Surveillance

On a hazy day like today
I’ve never dwelled on my faults
Like memories riddles with pain
I’ve locked them away in vaults
I’ve been walking your coastline
To see if what I believe is true
Should I step back; away and admire
Or blindlessly pursue
I’ve felt some pressure lately
Your waves nipping at my heels?
I wish I understood the tides
And the turbulence you must feel
The answer can’t be that hidden
I promise I’m not in a rush
The last thing I’d want to do
Is give this view the toss and crush
On a hazy day like today
You brought my heart to a halt
Knowing that on a day like tomorrow
I’ll never dwell on my faults
